Why Teacher's Day?

Education plays a major role in building a nation. This education is imparted by teacher or guru, so teacher or guru is called nation maker. In India, the teacher or guru is given a place before God. Guru's place is very important in every person's life.

It is this guru who gives the person information about the right path and enables him to get a good position in the society.

Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan's birthday is celebrated as Teacher's Day in India every year on 5th September. Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan was a great philosopher, teacher and the first Vice President and second President of India. Teachers' Day is celebrated by the Government of India and State Governments to honor teachers who have done great work in the field of education.

Many functions are organized in schools on this day, where teachers are honored for their outstanding work. In many schools children give gifts to their teachers. A cultural program was also organized in the school on this day. A resolution is taken to maintain the Guru-Shishya tradition on Teachers' Day.
